The evening slot, timed around the Ganga Aarti (typically 6:00-7:15 PM, shifting with the season), is the busiest and most atmospheric, with lamps and crowds building along Dashashwamedh Ghat. If the Aarti itself is your priority, this is the slot to book, and the one that fills up fastest.

A middle option

If you are travelling with young children or simply want to avoid both crowd peaks, a mid-morning or late-afternoon ride is a reasonable middle ground - the river is active but not as packed as the sunrise photography crowd or the evening Aarti slot.
